EVANSTON, Ill. -- The American Baseball Coaches Association, in conjunction with Rawlings, unveiled its 2013 NCAA Division I All-Region teams last month and Northwestern's Kyle Ruchim was named to the All-Mideast squad as a second baseman.

An All-Big Ten performer in 2013, Ruchim did a little bit of everything for the Wildcats this spring. He batted .365 and led the Wildcats in hits (61), doubles (16), triples (3), total bases (89) and slugging percentage (.533). Ruchim ranked second on the club in batting average (.365), on-base percentage (.441), runs scored (32) and stolen bases (10). He ranked in the top five in the Big Ten in batting average, slugging and on-base percentage and doubles.

In addition to serving as a crucial component at the plate, Ruchim served a key role in Northwestern's bullpen in 2013. The right-hander posted a 4-2 record, three saves and a 2.60 ERA in 16 relief appearances. Ruchim recorded 37 strikeouts in 34.2 innings of work for the Wildcats.

The Buffalo Grove, Ill., native is one of 12 Big Ten players on the 2013 All-Mideast Region team. It is the first such honor of his career.
