EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern ventures out on the road for the final time in Big Ten play as it travels to Ohio State for a three-game series. Friday night's contest is being televised by Big Ten Network and gets underway at 6 p.m. Central time.

First pitch on Saturday has been moved to 5:05 p.m. Central due to President Obama's appearance in Columbus, while Sunday's finale gets underway at 12:05 p.m.

After this weekend's series, Northwestern has a home set against Indiana before hosting nonconference foe Saint Louis May 17-19.

The Wildcats earned midweek nonconference wins over Northern Illinois (2-1) on Tuesday and Oakland (6-0) on Wednesday after dropping three home games to Illinois last weekend by a total of four runs. Six of NU's league losses this season have been by just one run.

    Scouting Ohio State
The Buckeyes (24-20, 8-10 Big Ten) dropped two of three games at Penn State last weekend. Josh Dezse leads the team with a .327 batting average, five home runs and 28 RBI. Brad Hallberg is hitting .303 with 12 doubles and 28 driven in. Ohio State easily leads the Big Ten, having drawn 223 walks this season and is second with 68 stolen bases. Jaron Long paces the pitching staff with a 4-2 record, a 1.98 ERA and 77.1 innings pitched. Greg Beals is in his second season as head coach.

Last Season: OSU took two of three games from Northwestern last season in Columbus, including a 15-14 shootout in Sunday's rubber game.

Northwestern's weekend rotation of Francis Brooke, Brandon Magallones and Zach Morton has done its part in giving the Wildcats a chance to win. The three individuals have started all of the Wildcats' conference games to date this season and all three pitched complete games in the Wildcats' series with Illinois April 27-29. All three have an ERA of 4.13 or better on the season and 3.62 or better against conference foes. In Big Ten play, Northwestern's staff ranks first with 118 batters struck out and fourth with a 3.62 ERA. The Wildcats' 3.94 ERA overall also ranks fourth in the conference.

The Wildcats' record this season isn't far from being significantly better as 11 of their losses have been by a one-run margin. Northwestern came up a run short in each of the three games of their series at Cal State Northridge Feb. 25-26 as well as each of the first two games of their Big Ten series at Minnesota and each of the last two games at home vs. Illinois.

Following this weekend's series, the Wildcats return to action at 3 p.m. Tuesday at home against University of Chicago. The following day, Northwestern travels to Miller Park in Milwaukee to face UW-Milwaukee following a 12:10 p.m. contest between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds.
