EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior relief pitcher Jack Quigley has been named the Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The right-hander collected his second win and his third save as the Wildcats won two of three against Nebraska in Lincoln over the weekend.

Quigley entered a tie ballgame with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning on Friday, April 18 following a fantastic start from sophomore Reed Mason. Over the next 2.1 innings, the sidearm thrower absolutely stifled Nebraska's hitters, holding them to just one hit. After the 'Cats took the lead on a RBI single from Cody Stevens in the top of the 12th, Quigley retired the Huskers in order in the home half to preserve his second victory of the season.

Just over 16 hours later, Quigley found himself on the mound again near the conclusion of the first game of a doubleheader. Brandon Magallones had given NU eight sensational innings before Quigley came on and recorded the final three outs without surrendering a hit to secure his team's fourth consecutive win and its first-ever series win at Hawks Field. It was also the team captain's third save of the season.

Quigley held the Big Ten's top offensive team to a paltry batting average of .077 in his two appearances. He also recorded one strikeout and fielded his position flawlessly by recording five assists and one putout over the weekend.

This is Quigley's first weekly award from the Big Ten. The Birmingham, Mich., native it a two-time B1G Distinguished Scholar and a two-time Academic-All Big Ten honoree. He is also active in several community relations initiatives, including Northwestern's partnership with the NFL Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

Chicago's Big Ten Team returns home after a successful road trip to host a pair of midweek games at Rocky Miller Park. The Wildcats will welcome Wheaton College on Tuesday, April 22, before playing host to Chicago State on Wednesday, April 23. Both games will begin at 3 p.m. and can be seen on the Big Ten Digital Network on Wildcats All-Access.
