EVANSTON, Ill. -- An unprecedented number of Northwestern spring athletic events will be available for fans on television and the internet in 2010. The Big Ten Network spring programming schedule, released today, includes nine televised baseball, lacrosse and softball games and more than two dozen additional live webcasts.
NU's five-time defending national champion lacrosse team will make its Big Ten Network debut on April 18 when it hosts a rematch of the 2009 national championship game against North Carolina. The 'Cats April 30th home game against Virginia will also be televised by the Big Ten Network.
Northwestern softball will have four televised games this spring, beginning with its series at Michigan April 17-18. A May 1-2 homestand against Penn State will also air live from Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
The Wildcat baseball team will have three regular season games on the network when NU plays at in-state rival Illinois, April 30-May 2. Additionally, the Big Ten Network will televise the entire Big Ten baseball tournament live from Columbus, Ohio, in late May.
BigTenNetwork.com will also provide live, streaming coverage of five additional lacrosse home games and nine softball home games, as well as several away contests for each sport. Many of these events will air on a delayed basis on the Big Ten Network as "Student U" productions. NUSports.com will supplement the Big Ten Network coverage with live video broadcasts of baseball and lacrosse. Nine baseball games will stream live from Rocky Miller Park, beginning with the homer opener against Ohio State on April 2nd. Northwestern lacrosse's April 24th home game against Vanderbilt will also be available on NUSports.com. All NUSports.com live broadcasts require a subscription to Wildcats All Access.
