    Exciting Win Opens Season

    Baseball defeats Northern Iowa

    EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern baseball team opened the 1998 season with an exciting 7-5 win in 14 innings over Northern Iowa Wednesday. The two teams are in Phoenix for the Rawlings Spring Tournament.

    Chris Hargan started for the 'Cats, going eight innings and giving up 3 earned runs. Ben Dodd got the win in relief and John Seaman picked up the save. Ken Killian was four for seven at the plate with two runs scored and Brian Baron went four for eight with an RBI triple in the 14th. Freshman Jeremy Kurella, in his first game as a Wildcat, also picked up an RBI triple in the 14th. He was also sharp in the field, recording 11 assists.

    The 'Cats are back in action today at 11 a.m. when they take on Cal State Northridge.
