    EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's baseball team dropped game one of Saturday's doubleheader 15-10 to Iowa at Rocky Miller Park in Evanston. The two teams combined for 25 runs and 32 hits, including 10 hits for extra bases. Max Mann hit two home runs and drove in four runs in the loss.

    Iowa jumped all over Wildcat starter Dan Schwartz (New York, N.Y./Northern Valley Regional), roughing him up for 11 runs (seven earned) in three innings of work.

    Senior Andrew Smith (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) threw the final four innings. He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits.

    Junior Max Mann (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) hit a three-run home run in the second inning to make the score 5-3 after two innings.

    Iowa scored six in the third inning to take an 11-3 lead after two and one half innings.

    NU plated four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Mann launched his second home run of the game. Mann's fourth round-tripper of the season was a solo shot. Senior Caleb Fields (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) tallied an RBI single as did classmate Mike Kalina (Munster, Ind./Munster).

    After Iowa scored one run in the top of the fifth inning, junior Jake Owens (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) recorded an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 12-8.

    Iowa added three insurance runs in the top of the ninth.

    Kalina and freshman Jake Goebbert (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) each hit RBI singles in the ninth to make the final score 15-10.
