    John Seaman Named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior right hander John Seaman (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) was named Big Ten Baseball Pitcher of the Week today by the conference office. Last week, Seaman went 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA, earning victories in all three appearances.

    Last Monday, he pitched three shutout innings in relief at Central Florida, allowing just two hits as NU won in 10 innings, 8-7. On Wednesday at Stetson, he allowed just one hit over four shutout innings to lead NU to a 10-8 victory. Yesterday against Ohio State, he scattered nine hits and allowed just three earned runs as the Wildcats defeated the Buckeyes, 6-4. All three opponents qualified for last season's NCAA Regionals.

    On the season, Seaman leads the Big Ten with a perfect 6-0 mark, is second in lowest opponents batting average (.194) and fourth with a 2.87 ERA. The Wildcats host UW-Milwaukee at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Northeastern Illinois at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Rocky Miller Park before heading to Champaign, Ill., for a four-game weekend series against the Illinois Fighting Illini.
