#B1GCats Host 20th Edition of Windon Memorial Classic

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will host the 20th edition of the Windon Memorial Classic on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 25-26, at North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill. The tournament will be the second contest for the Wildcats this season.
The competitors will play a 7,103-yard, par-72 field at North Shore CC, which previously hosted U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open Championships as well as the 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2010 Windon Memorial. Spectators are encouraged to attend; admission is free.
Play will consist of five-man teams with the best four scores counting towards the daily total. Teams will play 36 holes on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday. Participating squads feature universities from all over the country: Florida, Marquette, Michigan, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin, Indiana, Rutgers, UC Davis, Princeton, Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and DePaul.
Northwestern captured the 2013 Windon at Knollwood Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill., thanks to a second-place finish by then-senior Jack Perry and a third-place result by professional golfer Matt Fitzpatrick. The victory was NU's fourth in the history of the tournament.
The Windon has an illustrious history, with current PGA Tour members Luke Donald, Joe Ogilvie, Tiger Woods, Gary Woodland and Ben Curtis finishing as runners-up in the event. Donald and current PGA Tour members Hunter Mahan and Colt Knost are past champions.
NU's quintet will be junior Dylan Wu, sophomore Ryan Lumsden, fifth-year senior Andrew Whalen, graduate transfer Conor Richardson and freshman Everton Hawkins. Junior Sam Triplett and sophomores Luke Miller and Pete Griffith will play as individuals.
