ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Northwestern notched season-best times in both the 200 medley and 800 free relays at the Big Ten Women's Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday afternoon.
The Wildcats sit in seventh place after the first day of competition.
The quartet of Lacey Locke (Carmel, Ind./Carmel), Julianne Kurke (Atlanta, Ga,/Parkview), Julia Pratt (Vincennes, Ind./Vincennes Rivet) and Mary Warren (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) formed the quartet which set the season standard (1:40.67) in the 200 medley relay.
For the 800 free relay, the 'Cats turned in another ninth-place performance in the form of a 7:17.54 clip swum by Annika Winsnes (Singapore/United World College), Emily Launer (DeKalb, Ill./Rosary), Aja Malone (Acworth, Ga./Allatoona) and Ellen Anderson (Montgomery Village, Md./Gaithersburg). That time was the ninth-best time in program history.
The Big Ten Championships resume tomorrow with preliminaries (500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 1-meter diving) at 10 a.m. CT. The finals will take place at 5:30 p.m. CT, with 200 free relay competition added to those competed in the preliminary action.
