Austin Carr Named to a Pair of All-America Teams

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern senior wide receiver Austin Carr has been named a College Football All-America Second-Team selection by Sports Illustrated and USA Today.
Carr, a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award given to the nation's top receiver, has already been named the Richter-Howard Big Ten Receiver of the Year after leading the league in receptions (84), receiving yards (1,196) and touchdowns (12). His 12 touchdown catches tied a Northwestern single-season record.
The Benicia, California, native could become just the third player since 1990 to lead the conference in all three categories, joining Penn State's Allen Robinson (2012) and Michigan's Desmond Howard (1990).
A consensus first-team All-Big Ten selection, Carr had six 100-yard receiving games this season and caught a touchdown in a NU-record six-straight games from Sept. 10 to Oct. 15. Some of Carr's highlights from the 2016 season include:
• Career-high three touchdown catches in a 38-31 win at Iowa.
• 11 catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns in a 54-40 win at Michigan State.
• Eight catches for a career-high 158 yards at No. 6 Ohio State.
• Career-high 12 receptions for 132 yards and a score versus No. 8 Wisconsin.
Carr will attend the College Football Award Show presented by Home Depot at the College Football Hall of Fame this evening as a finalists for the Biletnikoff Award. The award show begins at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.
Northwestern will take on No. 23 Pittsburgh in the NewEra Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. CT.
