EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 14 Northwestern continues its stretch of three straight road matches to start Big Ten play as it travels to Rutgers on Friday and Indiana on Sunday.
The Wildcats (7-3) opened league play with a narrow 3-2 loss at then-No. 10 Maryland last Friday. NU bounced back by posting a convincing 4-0 nonconference win at Temple on Sunday. Eva van Agt and Dominique Masters tallied goals against the Terrapins, while Isabel Flens, Ashley Bernardi, Caroline Troncelliti and Maggie Fitzgerald scored in the win over the Owls.
All three of Northwestern's losses so far this season have come to ranked teams: No. 1 Connecticut, No. 5 Duke and No. 10 Maryland.
Nine different Northwestern players have scored goals through the team's first 10 games. Flens leads the balanced attack with nine goals while Masters is close behind with eight. The nine goals for Flens rank her tied for second in the Big Ten while she is tied for first in the league with three game-winning goals. Masters ranks atop the conference with 51 shots. In goal, Lindsay von der Luft sports a 1.40 goals-against average, second only to Michigan's Sam Swenson (1.03).
Following this weekend's action, the Wildcats will return home to Lakeside Field for their next four matches. Four of the team's last five Big Ten matches will be played on its home turf.
