EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern head men's basketball coach Chris Collins today announced that Chier Ajou will transfer from the University.

"Chier informed us that he would like to seek another institution to continue his educational and playing opportunities," Collins said. "We wish him nothing but the best in the future and are appreciative of his efforts during his time at Northwestern."

A native of South Sudan, Ajou appeared in seven games as a true freshman in 2012-13 prior to undergoing season-ending knee surgery. He received a medical hardship waiver and had seen action in one game this season against UCLA on Nov. 29.
