- Induction:
- 2017
- Class:
- 2008
Andrea Hupman was a nine-time All-American and two-time Big Ten Champion as the most successful Northwestern women’s swimmer since the turn of the century. A four-year All-Big Ten honoree, Hupman qualified for the NCAA Championships in each of her four seasons at Northwestern.
In one of the greatest performances in Northwestern Athletics history, Hupman capped an outstanding senior year as the 2008 Big Ten Swimmer of the Championships, breaking three Northwestern, pool and Big Ten Conference records while winning a pair of individual championships in the 100 free and 200 free. She then went on to win six All-America awards—three individual and three with relays—at the NCAA Championships to lead the Wildcats to a top-20 national finish.
Hupman’s performance in 2007-08 earned her a spot on the USA Swimming National Team during her senior season. She graduated with Northwestern’s school records in all three sprint freestyle events and with school marks in both the 400 and 800 freestyle relays.
