Pioneer Era: 1984 Charter Inductee

Nickname: "Pug"

Rentner's tremendous speed, passing and kicking skills sparked NU's successive championship teams in 1930 and 31. He was named to the All-America team in 1931, and went on to play with the Boston Redskins and Chicago Bears. He was inducted posthumously to the National Football Foundation's Hall of Fame in 1979.
