Contemporary Era: 1984 Charter Inductee

Porter climaxed his track career by winning the 110-meter hurdles in record time at the 1948 Olympic Games, becoming the only NU male athlete to win an Olympic title. He either broke or tied world hurdle record at all distances from 60 to 330 yards. At the conclusion of his career, he held all NU hurdle records, several of which still stand.
