    Contemporary Era:
    1984 Charter Inductee

Walter M. Paulison served as Northwestern's Sports Information Director for 43 years. He graduated from the Medill School of Journalism in 1925, and then worked with the school from 1926 to 1969. His lasting contribution to the Northwestern Athletic Department is his book, "Tale of the Wildcats," the story of NU athletics through 1950, which was published in 1951 during the 100th anniversary celebration of the founding of Northwestern University.

Paulison was inducted into the Helms Athletic Foundation Hall of Fame upon his retirement in 1969. He is also a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame. Even after his retirement, Paulison contacted newspapers with information for obituaries following the death of prominent former Wildcat athletes. He also remained a close friend to many athletes for years after he left Northwestern. The press box at Ryan Field is named after him.
