    Madalyn Shalter joined Northwestern Athletics as a full-time academic advisor in April of 2014, after serving as graduate assistant for the academic services and student development department from Jan. 2013 to March of 2014.

    Shalter attended Northwestern University, earning a bachelor's degree in human development and psychological services in 2012, and a master's of science in higher education administration and policy in 2013.

    A native of Ottawa, Ohio, Shalter competed for the Wildcats as a member of the volleyball team from 2008-2012. She finished her playing career as a setter with 2,537 assists, good for sixth place on NU's all-time list. She also posted 1,115 digs, the 11th-highest output in program history in that category. She was Northwestern's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for two years in a row in 2011 and 2012. As a fifth-year senior, Shalter served as team captain for the Wildcats in 2012. She also was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) and a Purple Peer Mentor.

    Shalter currently resides in Chicago.
