    A wrestling standout for the Wildcats from 1922-24, Hines rolled through his junior season undefeated and went on to win the Big Ten Championship. The following season, he successfully defended his conference title before capturing the National Collegiate Championship, the first in Wildcat wrestling history. This victory earned him a trip to Paris to compete in the 1924 Olympic Games. Despite a sprained ankle, Hines managed to garner third place. Following his return from Paris, he coached NU during the 1926 season.
