Maureen Harty was appointed the Director of Athletic Compliance at Northwestern University in June 2001, elevated to Assistant Athletic Director in 2005 and to Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, Academic Services and Student Development in February 2009. In her current role, Harty oversees the three areas mentioned and serves as the Sport Administrator for Women's Cross Country and Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving.

This is Harty's second stint at Northwestern. From 1986 to 1988 she served as an Assistant Director in the Department of Athletics and Recreation. She then went on to Saint Mary's College and Northeastern Illinois University, where she held the position of Assistant Athletic Director at each institution. Prior to coming back to NU, she was the Director of Athletics and Assistant Dean of Students at Dominican University. She has coached at both the high school and collegiate levels.

Harty is a faculty member in the Master of Sports Administration program at Northwestern University. At NU she serves on many institutional and departmental committees including the Undergraduate Dean's Council, Alcohol and Other Drug Task Force, Wellness Committee and Peer Mentoring Task Force. Within the NCAA, she is the former chair of the Initial Eligibility Waiver Committee and has served as a NCAA Certification Peer Reviewer on three occasions. Harty is a member of the College Athletics and the Law Board of Advisors. She has been an active member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators and the National Association for Athletics Compliance.

Harty holds a Bachelor's degree in Commercial Sports from Colorado State University. She completed coursework in the Master's in Recreation Administration program at the University of Kentucky and was awarded a Master's in Business Administration from Dominican University. In 1996 she completed the NACWAA/Hers Institute for Administrative Advancement.
