    Senior Associate Director of Major Gifts

    Chris McFarlane joined Northwestern Athletics as Senior Associate Director for Major Gifts on Aug. 29, 2013.

    McFarlane is responsible for securing philanthropic support for the department of athletics through a wide range of initiatives. As a key member of the NU athletics development team, he plays an important role in successfully navigating campaign and department-wide priorities, strengthening the relationships between Northwestern and its alumni, parents and friends, and progressing the fundraising initiatives for each of Northwestern's 19 varsity sports.

    Before coming to Northwestern, McFarlane previously led the athletics development offices at both Mount St. Mary's University and Loyola University in Maryland, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience into his role in Evanston. He previously held the position of Senior Director of Athletic Development at Mount St. Mary's University. During his more than three years of tenure at The Mount, McFarlane managed all major gift, annual fund, corporate partnership and capital project initiatives to unprecedented levels of success.

    A 2003 graduate of Florida State University, he also earned master's degrees in both business administration and sport business management from The University of Central Florida in 2005.

    McFarlane is a member of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) and completed the NCAA's prestigious Leadership Institute in 2011.
