Licensed to practice law in Maryland, Baptiste joins NU from same position at Delaware
Brian Baptiste (pronounced "bap-teest") was hired as Northwestern's Associate AD for Compliance in January 2013. Prior to arriving in Evanston, he held the same position at the University of Delaware, where he was responsible for directing, planning and organizing all phases of Delaware's compliance program and served as the sport administrator for field hockey and softball.
Baptiste also currently serves as a member of the NCAA Division I Initial Eligibility Waiver Committee.
During his time in Newark, Baptiste completed programs in leadership development and management essentials. He also earned a certificate from the NCAA Leadership Institute. Baptiste was promoted from Delaware's assistant director of athletics for compliance to associate director of athletics in September 2011.
Baptiste is a 2005 graduate of Towson University who earned his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2008. While earning his law degree, Baptiste served as a judicial intern for the honorable Donald L. Graham of the Southern District of Florida, as a law clerk for the firm of Cole, Scott & Kissane and as a certified legal intern with the Broward County State Attorney's Office. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Maryland.
Prior to Delaware, Baptiste worked as assistant director of compliance at Georgetown University, where he was responsible for monitoring various aspects of compliance related to amateurism, eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, benefits, the National Letter of Intent program and playing/practice seasons.
Baptiste also served as a primary source verification specialist with Kaiser Permanente in Rockville, Md., before entering the collegiate athletics field at Georgetown.
