    Scott Arey was promoted to associate athletic director of facilities in September 2010. Arey has spent the last 22 years working at Northwestern in some capacity, previously holding positions as assistant athletic director (2002-10), assistant director of athletic facilities (1999-02) and rec sports coordinator/director of intramurals (1991-99).

    During his time at NU, Arey has been intimately involved with numerous facility creation or expansion projects, including the 1999 Coon Sports Center expansion, the creation of Trienens Hall Annex in 2001, the construction of NU's administration housing, Anderson Hall in 2004-05, both Lakeside Field and Drysdale Field in 2007 and the Brown Family Basketball Center project from 2006-08.

    Arey, a Carbondale, Ill., native, graduated with a bachelor's degree in recreation administration from Southern Illinois University before earning his master's degree from the University of Illinois in sports administration. Arey lives with his wife, Beth, and two daughters, Kate and Alex, in Glenview.
