EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern sophomores Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) of the women's golf team and Tyler Miller (Woodbury, N.J./Bishop Eustace) of the men's soccer team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.
Lee posted the best score in her two years with the Wildcats when she shot a 2-under 214 -- besting her previous low score by five strokes -- at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. Lee finished in a tie for fourth overall and helped the Wildcats set a single-round program record with a 284 on the final day of competition.
Miller recorded a season-high six saves in Northwestern's 2-1 upset of No. 7 Notre Dame last week, battling through 15 second-half shot attempts by the Irish and 21 in total. Later in the week, Miller posted his fifth shutout of the season with a 1-0 win over Ohio State, keeping his ledger to one goal allowed in three Big Ten games. Still only a sophomore, Miller stands third in NU history with 14 career shutouts.
This week's Community Outreach Athlete of the Week is junior Fallon Fitzpatrick (Delray Beach, Fla./Boca Raton Community) of the women's swimming team. Fitzpatrick organized and oversaw Northwestern's 15th annual Field Day hosted by the Student-Athlete Advisory Council on Oct. 5. More than 150 area children visited campus to play a variety of sports taught by their favorite Wildcat student-athletes.
