EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior Kain Colter (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) of the football team and senior Chelsea Armstrong (Perth, Australia/Penrhos) of the field hockey team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn for their performances last week.

Colter, the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, saw time at wide receiver for the first time this season but scored all four touchdowns on the ground, rushing for a career-best 164 yards on 14 carries. He also caught nine passes for 131 yards as part of Northwestern's school-record 704 yards of total offense. Colter carried the Wildcat offense and scored on touchdown runs of eight, eight, 15 and 22 yards, scoring once for the 'Cats in each quarter.

Armstrong scored three goals on just four shots in NU's dramatic 5-4 overtime win against No. 6 Penn State. With the Wildcats down by a goal with 13 minutes left, Armstrong scored off a penalty corner to tie the game. The Nittany Lions reclaimed the lead, but Armstrong scored once again off a penalty corner with 6:33 remaining to make it a 4-4 game. In overtime, Armstrong completed the hat trick by scoring 12 seconds into the extra session to give the Wildcats their fifth win over a ranked opponent this season. Armstrong moved into third place in Big Ten history in both goals (90) and points (215) in the contest.

This week's Community Outreach Athlete of the week is senior Kristin Scharkey (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza) of the softball team. Scharkey and several other NU student-athletes participated in Northwestern's "Paint Evanston Purple" initiative last week. The 'Cats spread purple through downtown Evanston by painting fire hydrants and raising awareness and excitement about City of Evanston Day at Ryan Field last Saturday.
