EVANSTON, Ill. -
Paul Kennedy, most recently of the Chicago Blackhawks organization, has joined Northwestern University as the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications it was announced Monday.
Kennedy is responsible for overseeing all of the department's media relations, public relations, and new media initiatives.
"We're thrilled to welcome Paul to the Northwestern Athletics family," said Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs Mike Polisky. "He has an outstanding knowledge of the Chicagoland marketplace having worked alongside some terrific minds with the Blackhawks for the last three years. We're excited about the knowledge and energy that he'll bring to the position."
Kennedy, 30, joins the Wildcats after three seasons with the National Hockey League's Chicago Blackhawks. He helped the organization capture the 2011 Dick Dillman Award as the best media relations department in the NHL's Western Conference, and managed media relations during the club's historic run to the 2010 Stanley Cup Championship.
Prior to his arrival in Chicago, Kennedy served as the Director of Media & Public Relations for the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, and previously held the same title with the Birmingham Barons, Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
The Massachusetts native, who studied economics at George Washington University, resides in Chicago with his wife, Kelly.
