EVANSTON, Ill. -- Join the Wildcats as they celebrate the Fourth of July with the Evanston community this weekend. As a sponsor of several events throughout the day, residents will have the chance to receive Wildcat giveaways, meet Willie the Wildcat, play catch on the football field and win tickets to football games this fall. Stop by the Evanston playgrounds before the parade to get NU goodies and be on the lookout for Willie the Wildcat throughout the day to get a picture taken with everyone's favorite Wildcat.
Willie also will be making an appearance at a new event, Kicks for Tix, which will be held in Ryan Field immediately following the parade (approximately 4 p.m.). Kicks for Tix gives all residents the opportunity to kick a field goal with a chance of winning football tickets this fall. Every resident will be given one chance to make either a 20-yard or a 30-yard field goal. For every 20-yard field goal made, the Wildcats will give away two tickets to the NU-Minnesota game on Sept. 26 and for every 30-yard field goal made residents will win two Big Ten 3-Packs, which means two tickets each to the games against Minnesota, Indiana and Wisconsin.
"We have been participants in the parade the last few years so we are looking forward to taking a more active role in supporting this incredible community event," said associate athletic director for sales and marketing, Tracie Hitz. "We are excited to give fans a unique opportunity to play on the field and win tickets that will allow them to experience Big Ten college football this season."
Members of the Wildcat Ticket Office will be on hand to answer questions about the upcoming games, as well as sell tickets to all home games including half-price tickets to North Shore Community Day on Sept. 5 against Towson.
