EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior Erin Fitzgerald (Mt. Sinai, N.Y./Mt. Sinai) of the women's lacrosse team and freshman Zach Jones (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) of the baseball team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.

Fitzgerald remained on a tear offensively last week, extending her streak of consecutive games with at least five goals to four in a row, capped by a career-best six goals and seven points in a win over Harvard Saturday -- with both of those representing single-game highs by a Wildcat player this year. Fitzgerald, who has moved into 10th on the school's career goals list, also contributed two caused turnovers and a team-high five ground balls as NU downed the Crimson, 16-3. The senior also began the week with five goals in a win over Navy on Monday, giving her a total of 21 goals in four outings.

Jones enjoyed an outstanding weekend at the plate during the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational and was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week on Monday. Jones was called upon to pinch hit in all three NU games over the weekend, including in a 3-2 extra-innings win over North Dakota State when Jones delivered a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth to drive in the game-tying run and keep his team alive. Jones totaled four RBI during NU's three-game sweep and is batting .375 on the year.

This week's Community Outreach Athlete of the Week is junior Megan Goss (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood) of the women's swimming team. Goss visited Sunset Ridge Elementary School in Northfield for its Family Service Night along with several other NU student-athletes.
